So this morning I couldn’t get up. I don’t know why but I was exhausted. I knew I needed to run, but I didn’t even hear my alarm and don’t remember turning it off. Sometimes that just means that you really needed sleep but I’m disappointed in myself. I wanted to run this morning and tonight I can’t because I’m getting a massage to try to get my back to not feeling like it got beat with a baseball bat, which doesn’t make sitting at a desk all day any easier.
I feel like this happens to me during training. I get so tired. So tired that I can’t even run anymore because I have to catch up on sleep I’ve missed from running on other days. I guess it’s just one of those days. Everyone can’t be peppy and perky every day right?
Oh well, tomorrow I can run and all will be well with the world again.
Last night I went to the gym and was reminded why I hate the gym. No wonder I run outside all the time. The gym is just crazy. Too many weird people, sweaty people, it’s too hot. Yucky.
I realized my core is pretty weak and I’m going to start doing sit ups and push ups again because well, those have been slacking to say the least.
And on that note, I must stop posting before I just start saying more Debbie Downer things.
WHAAAAA WHAAAAAA……
xoxo
PS I have a super embarrassing video of me taking an ice bath and I’m wondering if I should post it. Shall I tomorrow? :)

oh friend, you’re not a debbie downer. you’re just experiencing real life. you have ALOT going on in your life right now from work to your future to running to having a social life, it only makes sense you would be exhausted. i’m tired just from reading it haha. I say go splurge on some mojitos. Mojitos make everything better.

One day off isn’t going to make or break you. It might actually make you if that’s what your body needs. I had that day yesterday and I enjoyed today a lot more. Get back with it tomorrow. Go have yourself some donuts, cake and ice cream today. ;)
As for the video, I vote YES!

This “mood” happens from time-to-time and you should not let it get you down. Sometimes a rest day or two helps to recharge the batteries and yes, you need to sleep when training like you do. Bounce back :-)

take pilates:) it’s hard & i’ve hurt for days afterwards but i’m too lazy to do abs/core work on my own! def try a yoga/pilates studio instead of a gym. way better experience & no gym yuck!

& no worries…you could take a whole week off & still be a rockstar!! keep your head up :)

Oh and the video…DUH YES hahahaha

This is my biggest problem! I was running the morning bc Austin summer heat would get above 100 degrees this summer so I would wake up at 5:30 to do my run then go to work all day. The routine worked for awhile but eventually I felt so run down I could barley get out of bed. I had to start running at the gym at night. I still run in the morning on weekends just not at 5:30 a.m. now that Autumn is here I can hopefully run outside in the evenings!

One day off won’t kill ya, sometimes we do just need our sleep!
I love the gym and am kinda excited to hit it hardcore during the winter months (when doing anything outside here is just wet).
I’m with you on the weak core…I need some serious ab work action =).
By Alisa on 09.24.09 8:58 am
You? Debbie Downer? Oh, stop the insansity!
You’re good. Catch up on sleep. Run tomorrow.

Shake it off and suck it up! No Negative Nancies allowed! :) I kid. We all have our bad days/runs. I call it having a case of S.R.S (Sucky Run Symdrome.
Please post hilarious ice bath video!

hang in there!!!! massage= perfect. just what you need. and sleep is never overrated. get it when you can.
By Lacey on 09.24.09 9:03 am
Don’t beat yourself up, Chic. Sleep and recovery are also very importnt parts of training. Sleeping through your alarm is just your body’s way of saying, “Hold up!”.

Everyone has those days… SOME OF US MORE THAN OTHERS =) You obviously need your rest… your body is telling you something. Just get your run in when you can and enjoy your rest when you can get it! =)
By Jamie on 09.24.09 9:08 am
Enjoy the massage and rest! You will be back tomorrow! Post of the video lol!

Everyone has a rough day, week, or month. It’s quite normal and not really a Deb Downer post.
I have an embarrassing photo of me using Lake Michigan as an ice bath. My brother promised not to post it but we want to see yours!

Do you want to run the Santa Monica 50k with me? :)
By ilovesteaks on 09.24.09 12:32 pm
I think these types of days are very helpful during training. It helps keep you on your feet. I’m like you about being disappointing in missing a run, but I try even harder not to miss the next one or the one after that. And the cycle just continues..You’ll make it up the next day!
By SDrunner on 09.24.09 1:45 pm
I’m sorry darling- i think everyone has the thursday blues today. I got the cutest head band at forever 21 and it only cheered me up for a little while. maybe i’ll be more excited later?!? dangit! also i dunno if its sunny and pretty out there, but its cloudy and gloomy here and that is an automatic crank for me. anyways, i hope your massage cheers you up. if not maybe some sleep and a run tomorrow will. I noticed i’m so effing tired lately too. This training is kicking my butt!

I had painful lower back pain and then found I had a pretty severe herniated disc. I almost had surgery, but I started walking and working my core. Then, I started running. Now it only really hurts on the days I have sit for 8 hours at a desk. So, work that core, girl! I bet that’s a contributing factor.
By Kerrie on 09.24.09 8:48 pm
Everyone has those days! And it’s hard trying to run, run, run all the time–our bodies get tired and need rest. It’s OK that you slept in :) You’re right, you can run tomorrow :)
By Ally on 09.25.09 7:38 am
I had this same experience on Sunday and Monday. I was so upset with myself for not getting up to run. After I ran Monday night, I felt so much better! It happens to all of us!
