Back in the GAME and a Q&A post!

So I’m finally feeling better! Hooray! I am going to wait to run again until I’m for sure, absolutely 100% better because there is no need to end up like I was this past week. Miserable! When it comes to running I am one of the biggest activists about ‘listening to your body’. It sounds so lame, but I totally believe that if you are sick, and run, you’ll end up feeling worse and  having to take more days off. Though I seriously miss running right now, as dorky as that sounds, I’m not missing it enough to make myself sick again! I’ll be back out there soon, since Malibu is already right around the corner!

Last night I actually left my house and went to the movies and saw Where the Wild Things Are. Though not a kids movie, I actually really enjoyed it. There were a lot of hidden messages that really made you think throughout the movie, and though usually I don’t like movies like that, this was an exception. Where they filmed the movie in Melbourne, Australia was simply gorgeous too!

So now my new running capris (that you can find here)that have been taunting me all week by just laying on my bed will finally get some use this weekend hopefully.

I was sad I couldn’t run, it was almost like one of those moments when you don’t realize how much you love something until it’s taken away. I’m just glad I can still go back to it. And, it’s almost the weekend!

Also, I am going to do another Q&A post soon, so if you have questions for me about anything running related or anything you want to know about me, it’s all fair game (eeeeks!!!), feel free to leave a comment on this post! Lurkers, this is your chance to delurk yourself! I’ll post all my answers to your questions probably Thursday of next week! :)

Watch out world! Happy, Perky, Not sick Danica is BACK!

xoxo

YAY! I Am so glad you are feeling better! you have been missed! LOL

These are my very favorite running capris! http://www.pearlizumi.com/product.php?mode=view&pc_id=94&product_id=1372665&outlet= :) They are awesome!

Glad to hear you’re feeling better, ChicRunner!

Yay! So glad you’re feeling better AND playing it smart.

Hi I’m leaving you a comment.

Question: If you had to live off of one food group/restaurant/meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Glad you’re feeling better!

Hi Danica – I’m wondering about your shoes and your speed.

How often do you buy a new pair of shoes? And do you wear more than one pair at a time, alternating running in them?

Also, r.e. your speed, is that the average speed you’ve always ran (8:30ish miles I think you said?) or did you work up to that over the last year??

Finally, do you take walk breaks during your long runs??

OK, I really only meant to ask ONE question but then I got out of control. Haha, I’m super curious about other people’s running habits!

Yay for feeling better and Yay for seeing “Where the Wild Things Are” ;)

glad to hear you are feeling better.

my question: favorite taco bell item?

what was your weekly mileage when you got back into running and how did you increae without getting hurt? How long did it take to get faster and what happened to mr. r? LOVE the posts!!!

Question:
What would you recommend an on/off runner stay motivated? I WANT to love running, I really do. But, I’m just not sure how to fall so in love it with it I can’t stop :-)

I go in spurts of running, and then not running…. after those latter spurts, it’s hard for me to get back up and get out there.

Glad you’re feeling better!

Australia is a beautiful country.

Q: Aside from PB&J experiment of food while running have you ever tried candy? If so, pros/cons. (It’s certainly cheaper than Gu)

Hi Danica! So, I’m a complete lurker, and always feel like I’m too busy to come out of the shadows… haha Anyway, LOVE your blog, and it’s so good to know that there are fellow runners out there like myself! Your blog is the 1st I actually started reading on the topic, and I def love checking in whenever I get a chance. But yeah, now that you know I absolutely adore you, I have one questions (and if it’s too personal for a just-revealed reader I totally understand!) What happened to you and “Mr. R?”

Glad to hear you’re feeling better, and from now on I’ll try to make an effort to comment!

Glad you’re feeling better, and in total agreement about the “listen to your body” comment. Let’s see, questions . . . I’ll second the earlier question about staying motivated, a topic that I’m struggling with at the moment. Also, other training besides running?

I felt bad being a creeper and wondering where Mr. R went too (a few girls asked about him as well)… you spoke so highly of the guy a while back, and we haven’t heard/seen pics of him at any of your big events lately. What happened to you and Mr. R?

yay for feeling better!
Were we supposed to ask questions on this post or a later post? I’ll wait, give me time to compile a LIST haha!
Those capris are adorable, I was just about to start hunting for a pair!

Glad to hear you’re starting to feel better. I commend you for being able to listen to your body and not run. When I was sick just before Long Beach I was just freaked that I wasn’t doing something…

And yes – when we passed at Long Beach you had this look of determination on your face – that was *very* obvious.

Glad you’re feeling better!

I want to take my kids to that movie so badly! I’m afraid the big heads might freak out my 4yo though :)

I’ve been a lurker lately, not having time to comment, but still reading intently.

My question is: What motivates you to run (besides being able to eat more of your favorite junk…that’s mine too)? What do you feel you get out of it?

I love running capris :) Glad you’re better!!!

glad you are feeling better lady! hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Ola! Glad to see you’re feeling better. I was sick, too, and it lasted for about 5 weeks! Not fun!! Anyway, I have a couple of questions for you: 1. Do you find you lose weight from all your running? Or do you just maintain? and 2. When you do your looong runs (15+ miles) do you ever have any issues with pain in areas that you usually don’t have pain? Such as a new pain in your leg or foot that you normally don’t feel when doing shorter runs? If so, what do you do? Continue on? Stop your run? I have pains during long runs (always in the same spots… behind my right knee and the top of my right foot) that I don’t have during short runs, and I never know if I should stop running or just grit my teeth and continue on.

Thanks! :)

P.S. I’m still LOVING my ifitness belt… thanks again!!

Your costume is adorable! You have a great blog and as a new runner your marathon stories and experiences were very helpful for me. I hope to run all my races smiling the way you did at Long Beach!

Danica GET TO THE DOCTOR. I saw your tweet and it sounds like you are feeling like crap again.
You have been sick for way too long. Have you been running a fever?
Hope you feel better and take care of yourself!!!!

I am Danica’s capris…run in me you will!

so glad you are feeling better girl :)

Please please give us your opinion on how to go about increasing mileage. For instance- I just finished my first half, now what? Should I go for a faster time on another half or should I begin training for a full marathon? Oh and can you move to GA and be my running partner/motivator?
haha kidding, but you are such a fun person!

[...] so if you have any questions for me, I’ll be answering them on Thursday! So post a comment on this post if you have a question for [...]

Hey girl!! I was wondering (this is personal) hows the love life?? You’re so sweet and positive, you deserve the best!

Happy Belated Halloween! i just received my MRI results, seems i have a torn medial Meniscus =(
ever had this injury or know of a website that would lead me in the right direction as far as getting back up and running? Thanks Ken

Hi Danica, thanks for being such an inspiration…I have two questions. First off How do you stay hydrated during your training runs???do you use a water belt, handheld bottle, etc,if so what kind or brand? Secondly what do you do in between runs, exercise wise?

What do you do for your day job? Are you and your beau still together…havn’t heard about him in a while:(?

Hello Danica,
A couple of questions…..I have difficulty running with headphones that don’t stay in my ears….any recommendations? Besides using pills to reduce inflammation….is there other options? and lastly, do you have any interesting stories from your running years in high school ?
