Happy 1st Birthday C!

This past year has been such a blur, in the best way possible. My life has changed drastically since having a baby. I don’t run as much as I used too, I don’t sleep as much as I used to and many of my days revolve around watching Daniel Tiger, Curious George, playdates and naptimes. Before I had Cora, I didn’t know how to take care of a child, much less how I would be as a Mom. Over the past year there were many challenges, moments where I had no idea what I was doing, and I asked many, many questions, but we made it. There was a lot of unsolicited advice before I had her and throughout the first year and I guess that’s just how parenting is. There seems to be so much negativity and judgement that comes along with being a parent, and knowing you’re doing everything you believe is right for your child is so important.

But the part that stands out to me is how fun it is and I really wish more people focused on that. It’s a lot of work, but it’s seriously so much fun and so rewarding. All the advice I got was what to do and what not to do, what I must buy and what I don’t need. How hard it would be, what food to give her, what schedule to follow. But man, when your little baby smiles at you for the first time or giggles and as they grow and develop their own personality, it just keeps getting better. Every month there has been new things to experience and look forward too and it’s been a really fun adventure. I’ve learned a lot about myself and I’m proud of how far we’ve come as a family. This life is crazy but it’s exactly where we are meant to be.

We recently celebrated C’s 1st Birthday with our family and friends and it was a lot of fun! screen-shot-2016-09-26-at-11-22-22-amI got most of the party supplies on Oriental Trading, and they were all super affordable and easy to assemble. I thankfully got the tassels from Shea and got to make a bunch of stuff on my Cricut as well.

I printed out a bunch of her ‘firsts’ from throughout the year and loved looking through these photos! Now I have them for one day hopefully (starting and) finishing her baby book.

Dress from Silly Me Baby. It was so much fun and a great day to celebrate the fact that we had made it a full year! :)
