I cannot believe that we’ve already had Sophie for a year! It seems like she had just come into our family and we were picking her up at the shelter. She was terrified and peeing on everything and I remember how nervous I was for her and George to get along. I was very scared wondering if she would be a good fit for our family. I remember standing at the little tag maker at Petsmart trying to figure out what to name her with B, and then picking her up after she was groomed thinking how much better she looked.
She has really added so much to our family. We got her mainly as a friend for George and they are now inseparable. She follows him everywhere and they snuggle all the time, which is my favorite. Since she has become a part of our family she has also become more white in her face, sometimes people assume that she is an older dog, but then they see her jump around and realize that her coloring is just grayish white. Her and George play tug of war, lay in the sun and chase each other around and she is the happiest right by his side. And the water bottle toys… how many of those do we go through in a month? At least they aren’t ripping apart the house as much anymore! She isn’t a running dog like George is but that is more than okay! B likes to ‘cruise’ with her on walks, while George loses his mind and goes nuts when running with me. Here’s a funny photo of George getting tackled by her. They always tackle each other and race around the fire pit in the backyard.
It’s also amazing to realize how far she has come in a year. Though she is still a big nervous when she meets someone new, she is friendly and so, so loving. In November she also got completely shaved because we thought she might like it more than all of her fur and she has really loved it! We used to only get her trimmed, but you can see how much different she looks now.
Compared to George the Diva, she is always so happy and I almost think it’s because she’s thankful to be here. She’s gotten so much more cuddly, which I’m sure she learned from George :) I am so glad we gave her a chance a year ago when she was so scared because I cannot imagine our family without her. We love you Sophinator!
Sophie came from the Downey Animal Shelter and I encourage you to check out your local shelter if you’re looking for a running partner or friend. They have SO many dogs and cats that are looking for good homes and you’re saving a life by adopting them!
