Another downer week

I really don’t have anything good to say about this week at all. I struggled a lot. It’s been hot and humid out and I seriously have no idea how you people in the South do it. I wasn’t mentally engaged this week and my running slacked. I wasn’t taking care of my body and working ahead to foam roll and take care of my legs and now they are so tight I can barely walk. It was just a rough week and knowing I wasn’t in it mentally was hard for me to be motivated. Monday I ran a 5K, which went fairly well. I felt strong but my ankle gave me an issue, the same issue I had with it when I ran faster during Ragnar, around mile 2.5. I was still fairly happy with my times, though wish the splits were a little bit more consistent.valley-christian-5k-labor-day-running

I only ran 28 miles for this week, which is a lower mileage week for me, but I am still glad that I got in one long run last Sunday and I pushed myself at the 5K.

On Sunday we did our long run which was a struggle through 10 miles. I did have an amazing donut after though.

Monday I did the 5K, Tuesday was 4 cautious miles after my ankle was acting up, Thursday was 6 and Friday was 5.75, including another 1.5 of stairs. The stairs were not my smartest idea, but the injured kids on my team were doing them and I didn’t want to just sit and watch. Tuesday we were rewarded with an amazing sunrise though, which we haven’t seen in some time.

This past Saturday, Mary Kate and I were planning to run 10 miles, we drove to our starting point and were both so tired and just threw in the towel. I went home and slept for 6 hours, so it was apparent that I needed more sleep. Even though I’m not proud of skipping that run, I knew it was best for my body and I needed to catch up on sleep. Saturday night I went through all my running clothes and realized that I have SO many. I recently bought some new capris because apparently in my mind I didn’t realize I had over 10 pairs, and needed more. I guess keeping things clean is better than buying more stuff! I did however find two visors that I thought were lost, including my tiger visor!

So I’m starting this week fresh and feeling much better about getting the miles in. Here’s to a new week, a new attitude and outlook and some good miles.

Thank you for being honest and real when things don’t go as planned. I had the same thing happen to me this week. I am training for my first half marathon and I finally had a bad week of training. I quit after 6 miles of my schedule 10 this weekend. It wasn’t ideal and I hated to throw in the towel like that but I really think I just needed to stop and reset. Let’s both kick it in gear and have a great week!

Looks like we both struggled last week. I only ran 12 miles last week due to a very tragic event with one of my close friends. I just lost all motivation and I am hoping to get back on track this week. I will be sending good vibes your way. Awesome job on that 5K!

Ditto to what Jess said about keeping it real. I live in the south and it’s been super hard training with all the heat and humidity. I only got in 13 miles last week…hopefully this week will be better!

Sometimes you just have those kind of weeks. I can totally relate & the answer is usually lots of sleep & resting your body. Good post!

I have been running in the early morning hours and I mean like 5:30 am. It’s way too hot here in NC in the evenings right now. I am so ready for fall weather!

Yeah I’m in love with the closet photos :) I too just bought some capris and a new long sleeve top. Every year when it starts to get colder here in CT, I seem to panic and run out and buy layers…lol. I wish I had space to hang my clothes! I love, love, love it! Maybe I could use another pair of shoes…haha!
