Weekly Running Recap

This week was a down week for me and it was nice to take a break from the higher mileage. Right now, before school starts, practice is ever day between 6 and 8 am, and goes for about 2.5 to 3 hours so it takes up a good chunk of time. We were also up at cross country camp for the beginning of the week, and running in places like this isn’t too bad…


Monday I ran 4 miles, Tuesday was another 4 miles and Wednesday was only 2 miles. Thursday was a pretty crazy day because I did a ton of miles all in different workouts, before 9 am! training-run-long-beach-marathon

My legs were really shot after these runs, which was just .02 under 15 miles. I wish my pace on the 1.87 miler was faster, but I was just tired and couldn’t pick it up. Next time I know I can push myself harder. Running with the team has actually helped me mix up my workouts a little bit more with more tempo and intervals instead of just heading out and going for a run, which hopefully will help me build a little more speed. Saturday I wanted to get in a longer run so I ran 8 miles around my neighborhood and then another 2 miles on the treadmill at the gym.

It wasn’t the best run I’ve had but I realized I was running on tired legs and the first two miles were rough because I had pushed myself to 15 miles the previous day. I ended the week a little down with only 35 miles, but I am happy to take somewhat of a break after such a big week the previous week. I am happy that the longer runs were closer together to push my tired legs to run hard. I foam rolled a lot and stretched as well, which I think is helping my legs spring back even though I’m still running a lot miles for me.

Here’s to another good week of training! Race day is quickly approaching, it’s less than 50 days away!
