I was up in Lake Tahoe last week, and it made for some awesome running! The views were seriously amazing and even while being away from home I was still able to get in 24 miles for the week, which I was more than happy with.
On Sunday we did 2 short runs, and I felt great. It was nice to take the time to ice and foam roll a LOT while at the cabin. Nothing like spending your vacation foam rolling right? A 4 miler in the morning, and a 2.25 miler in the evening.
On Monday we went for a 5.75 mile run, to round out the .25 from the night before.
Tuesday was a much needed rest day and Wednesday the girl I was running with was up for a long run with me, which was awesome! She ran cross country and track in high school and we didn’t realize how fast we were running until near the end. I was so pumped after this run! It seems like my hard work and miles are finally starting to pay off and my paces are getting a little faster. We had an AMAZING view that morning and went in the lake right after for an ‘ice bath’, which helps with inflammation and soreness.
That was also our anniversary… so we went out to dinner at a nice restaurant in town, and it was DELICIOUS. Bacon Macaroni and Cheese and a Kobe Burger? YES.
I didn’t run again until we came home on Saturday and I only ran 2 miles to shake out my legs and prepare myself for my long run that I did on Sunday. I am so happy that I got in so many miles even while being gone. It’s so great to explore a new area and see sights that you’d normally miss by going for a run or walk!
