This week has been excellent in regards to running, for the most part. Despite having a small headcold, I ran the last 3 days. Running 4 miles, 3 miles and last night, 2.5 miles. Though I did have lofty goals for running 12 miles on 12/12/12, that didn’t happen and I was happy with just going for a short run after a long day at work.
I think next week I am going to start really tracking my mileage and see how many miles I’m running a week now that I’m running more consistently. When I started back up, I didn’t want to jump back in wearing a garmin and tracking my miles so closely because my biggest issue when training is ‘missing’ a run and feeling behind and then feeling defeated. I am hopefully going to try for a spring half marathon next year so I know I need to get my mileage up to make sure that I don’t get hurt and don’t have the lingering issues that I had previously when training earlier this year.
I love running at night with all the Christmas lights lately! They really light up the neighborhood and make me feel safe, for some reason. Normally, I don’t like running at night but this year I’m really enjoying it. This weekend I hope to get in some more awesome miles in, including a 5 miler on Sunday, which will be a good test to see how my IT Band is going to hold up and how my training will go. I’m looking forward to it though, and getting excited about my next race, which is a feeling I haven’t had in a while.
George has been doing well with running lately too! I recently got him a little bit longer leash, we were running with a 4 foot leash, and now I have a 6 foot leash, and it makes all the difference. He doesn’t pull as much and can run ahead a bit and I don’t trip all over him. I’m pretty glad it worked out because I thought for some reason he would pull more with a longer leash.
