I truly love Christmas. It’s such a fun time of year. This year was no different, and both B and I were blessed to spend time with family and friends throughout the week, even scoring a few days off work! This was the first time B had both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from work and it was so much fun. We also had an ugly sweater gathering with a few friends from the station and a few of my friends. It was really fun and we got awesome sweaters!
It was a pretty low key evening but lots of fun, and I made quite a few treats for the event, needless to say, that’s the only photo I got from it. Also ~ Apparently, B joined a boy band? What is that facial expression?!
Christmas Eve was spent at B’s parents and then we stopped by my Aunt and Uncles too.
I thought B looked SO nice on Christmas Eve. Normally he wears sweat pants and an old t-shirt, which he did do on Christmas, but alas, Christmas Eve he was looking HOT! This is in front of my in-laws tree. Which they switched all our gifts to trick us! All the To: B gifts were actually for me, just so that I wouldn’t peek and would be more surprised. They know me too well.
Christmas morning we woke up and did our gifts to each other, which I got a totally unexpected Marc Jacobs bag in a gorgeous neutral color and some candles, which I’m a hoarder of.
George was spoiled per usual. He got a bunch of pupcakes, bones, new tennis balls and toys. We actually have been discussing getting him a little brother to tire each other out when we are at work, but we’ll see what happens. He hates being alone and loves other dogs, but we haven’t gotten one yet, so we’ll see.
B’s parents also got me the juicer I have been eyeing, the Breville Juice Fountain Multi-Speed Juicer, which more on that later, but I’m pretty obsessed with it. I tried it out and it’s super easy to use AND will end up saving me a lot of money on all my juices, so that’s awesome. Another amazing, incredible gift that I still cannot get over is the fact that my younger brother got a DVD made from an old 8mm film. It was a few Christmas mornings and events and seeing my mom and hearing her voice was literally breathtaking. I cried pretty much all of Christmas evening watching it and looking at a selection of old photos he also gave to me, that I thought I would never see again. It was so special to share it with our entire family and really emotional that B finally got to see a part of me that he’s never seen, which is my mom! It was really, really special and won’t be forgotten. Since everyone comes to our house for Christmas dinner, it was a fun, long day but the dvd was an unexpected and incredible surprise!
Last night we went to dinner to unwind and relax. B has been contemplating a trip to Israel with our church and we discussed that and some of our goals and hopes for 2013. It’s always great to take some time to unwind and just be together, especially after the craziness that is the Holidays.
As for running and working out, as of late, I have been thinking about what race I want to do in the spring. We shall see, but I am thinking of traveling out to North Carolina in March to do a half marathon. I have been running but with nothing in stone for the future, I have not been running as much as I would like to. So I am going to commit to a race soon and start upping my long run miles.
I did go to the gym this morning and know that starting fresh in January will really make me feel good. I was shocked to see that I only gained one pound over the holidays! With all my eating, I thought it would be a lot more, but I’m glad to get back into the swing of things.
I hope everyone else had a blessed Christmas and enjoyed the true meaning of the season.
