This weekend was great! Not only was it my birthday, but it was a great Long Beach Half Marathon too! Since I started a new job not long ago, for the first time in two years I was able to run the race again! It was so exciting and nice to be able to run one of my favorite races, instead of working it for once. :)
For whatever reason, this race still gives me some crazy euphoric feeling. Yes, I totally stole these photos from the race site.
Such an amazing day, seriously. Love that race. During that race I was totally even thinking, Oh man I should run a full!!! Then once I crossed the finish line, I had my senses come back to me and though nahhhh, I’ll stick to halfs…. So we’ll see. I’m getting the itch to run a full. But that means I’d have to actually train and run more often, so we’ll see. If you haven’t noticed I haven’t been bursting at the seams to run lately and it’s finally starting to come back little by little. I needed a break and have been working on a blog post on that for quite some time. Perhaps I will post it next week.
As for the race recap, it wasn’t bad at all, I felt decent the first 8 miles and then I hit a WALL. Hello, no training. After that I walked a little bit and ate a otter pop someone was passing out. I finished in about 2:07, I think, which was fine by me. It did give me the motivation to train for my next race though.
Needless to say, the birthday was AMAZING! I got a trainer to ride my bike inside, which I’m so excited about and also a few weights and some gift cards to Forever 21, my go-to. It was a lovely weekend of relaxing and hanging out with family and friends. My favorite. :)
I am so thankful for so many things in my life. Family, Friends, a house, health and food daily. I cannot ask for anything more!
xoxo

October 11, 2012 at 11:48 amHappy birthday! I came in around that time on no training, too, though I didn’t see you. =/ Like you, though, it did motivate me to train, though my next half is in like 2 weeks, so after that.
October 11, 2012 at 12:03 pmLooking great out there and nice work getting down 10 pounds. I didn’t think you need to lose any weight but you look even slimmer now! I was not able to run Long Beach due to some shin issues at the last minute so I missed out!

October 15, 2012 at 6:31 pmHappy belated birthday! How do you look so good in all your running pics? I did a half last weekend too and I look good in the first few pics (since I purposefully smiled for the camera) but by the end I look horrible. Nice time too for not training! I DID train & I only finished 4 minutes faster than you. :-\ I’m aiming for sub-2 hours next time!
