So this is happening

So the whole running a marathon in 2 weeks is really happening, and let me tell you, I’m pretty much petrified. I ran three miles this weekend and my IT band was a bit sore but I did foam roll and it seems to be helping. I know that 13.1 won’t be an issue but it’s that last 13.1 that I know I did not train for and that will hurt. Hurt, a LOT. I’m prepared for this to hurt because of that medal and the people who I’ll be with, but it’s still going to be quite entertaining. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a train wreck that you can’t look away from, alas, it will be fun, mixed with some pain.

This weekend I had to work Friday and Saturday and worked out pretty hard Friday morning at the gym, and then ran 3 miles on Sunday. I got two new pair of Nike shorts at the Nike outlet that I was dying to try out and they worked out wonderfully. The above statement was my motto when I was working out. Monday morning I hit up the gym and worked out REALLY hard and it felt so good. My arms were shaking as I left. I also ran two miles and had less pain than Sunday, which was encouraging. I’m still foam rolling a lot. Tonight is another gym day, and I hope to run two miles to the gym and then ride back with B after we work out. Then more foam rolling. Foam rolling is a way of life these days. Here’s one pair of the shorts I got, 9 bucks! I got another pair, which are tyedye and a little weird, for only 5! Score!

Also, this weekend I did some seriously baking trials, which I’ll report on tomorrow. B and I went out with a few friends on Saturday night after I got off work, it was fun but I was pretty exhausted.

And yesterday we got a lantern and hung it on our front porch, which I love! It looks so good and really adds a little something. We have a little flameless candle in it and we lit it last night and it looked so cute. :)

I do love our house, so much, but man! Lots of work. B is getting very excited to work on the yard, which is what we will be starting soon. I use the term ‘we’ loosely. I will most likely be watching from those Adirondack chairs on the front porch. :)

    I feel your pain…we have napa marathon on the 4th…I did get a full 15 weeks of training in, but my hip is killing me….I’m also rolling like crazy, foam and tennis ball….could be a long 26.2!

    Can’t believe your marathon is almost here, you will be just fine! I am sure you will rock it no matter what. I am still kinda, sorta confused… why Arkansas??? I couldn’t remember if there was a significance or if it was a totally random state to run in.

    You and B remind me SO much of my husband and I! I am excited to hear about your next marathon. I am running the Disney Princess half this weekend and I am a bit nervous. I have not done a half in over a year, and have not been so faithful in my running. I will be happy to cross the finish line and chalk it up as another lesson learned in the world of racing :)

    I’ve got my third marathon coming up in just over a month, and seriously, it’s going to be a hot mess of an endurance event!! I’m going to have to work really hard to beat my mental game of constantly trying to beat myself, and just focus on getting around the course without dying. Hopefully! ;D Can’t wait to see your medal though!
