Our Love Story

Because I’m still feeling mushy and gushy, most likely because I had way to many chocolate covered peanuts yesterday… I decided to follow along on the post out there right now, and because I rarely talk about the husband. Well maybe I do talk about him a lot who knows. But I have enjoyed reading these posts on a few others blogs so I figured why the heck not.

In honor of Valentine’s day being yesterday, here’s our love story…thanks to Mrs. in Memphis and Valerie at “Along the Way with V & J” for this fun idea!
1. How long have you & your significant other been together?
We’ve been together two years and four months.
2. How did you meet? {What’s your love story?}
Actually, this is a rather embarrassing and completely random story. Shea, and a few friends and I, were out for my 24th Birthday. Shea’s mom was encouraging white gummi bear shots, along with another friend who was known to get wild and crazy down on 2nd street with us from time to time. B was out with his friends that evening and I guess we met at a bar named Panama Joes. I literally really don’t remember meeting him, but I guess I did let everyone in the bar know it was my birthday. The fact that both him and I were out on a Tuesday night is SO random. So out of character for both of us, but I guess we discussed going to the zoo the following day. I got a text at 8 am apologizing that we couldn’t go to the zoo after all. I was SO confused, who was this person. HA. Terrible.  This is so embarrassing that I’m even putting this online. He later asked me out that day on a real date and we went out the following weekend. Needless to say, we took things REALLY slow in the beginning, and did finally end up going to the zoo. :)

3. If married, how long have you been married?
6 months.
4. If you are married, where did you get married? Big or small wedding?
We were married in Hollywood at a small church and our reception was at Universal Studios. We had 128 people there and it was the best day, EVER.
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?
We have a few nick names. Our 2nd date we visited the Aquarium of the Pacific and feed the Lorikeets, I don’t know why, but we talked about how Lori’s mate for life… and so we call each other Lori mostly, I call him B and he calls me D and we call each other Boo.
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
1. He is the funniest person ever. Even when I’m so mad, he will do something that makes me laugh so hard. He cracks me up all the time.
2. He is the most caring, kind person ever. I don’t know how he gets along with me, as he calls me the “Ice Queen”, but he would do anything, for anyone.
3. He knows me so well. It’s like he knows exactly what to do and say to me no matter what it’s about. He always knows how to deal with me.
7. Tell us how he proposed?
He got the ring from the jeweler at 3 pm, and it was on my finger by 6 pm. :) He picked me up to go out to dinner, at a place I didn’t want to go to, and then we stopped by his parents, where he proposed on their front porch. He claims he had to do it there becuase he was so nervous he couldn’t eat and he was starving, so he had to do it before we ate dinner. It makes me laugh because that’s so him.
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day or strawberries, champagne, & rose petals?
He is a flowers and a really funny card type of guy. He knows I LOVE cards so he always finds funny ones for me. He did get me a bear yesterday from by his station in Watts, so now I have a bear from Watts, to remind me of him while he is at work. And it is the most ghetto looking bear ever.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop in a movie and relax on the couch?
Dinner and a movie girl. :) We always watch movies and drink sleepytime tea before bed when he’s home.
10. Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything or go anywhere?
Fiji.
11. Tell us what you plan on doing this Valentine’s Day.
B worked half day yesterday and I had already made plans to go out with my grandma and grandpa so he met up with us and my cousins for dinner and then we went home and went to bed. We are boring.
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine’s Day?
No. I’m glad he only had to work half day and got to come home last night. :)
13. Give us one piece of advice for keeping a relationship strong & full of love.
Don’t ever stop laughing. Keep open lines of communication about everything. It’s work, but it’s fun work.
14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.

Doing the same stupid things… together :)
xoxo

  1. This is really sweet. I love that yall are goofy together, and girl I LOVE that you don’t remember meeting him. My dad calls meeting someone in a bar the “good old fashioned way.”

That is so adorable! I love your story of not remembering meeting him at all – just hilarious. Your photo at the end really sums up what love should be about, finding someone who is happy being completely stupid with you all the time :)

I love this post. This is perfection and you guys are awesome. You guys should plan a rocky mountain vacay and come kick it with us in Boulder. You’d love the mountains and the microbrews and the chill vibe. (PS whyyyyyy did B have a mustache?!?)
