This past Monday-Thursday we traveled up to Half Moon Bay/Sunnyvale/Monterey to see B’s family. They were truly great to stay with and seeing them was a blast. It was a wonderfully relaxing trip and a great way to kick off the New Year. Though it limited my running, I did bike about 12 miles during the trip on a stationary bike and now that I’m back and getting into the routine, I’m really looking forward to the upcoming races I’m doing.
It was seriously so beautiful, but taking pictures in the car through the window was a bit tricky.
We stayed one night in Monterey at the Sanctuary Beach Resort and it was seriously awesome. B got a great deal on it on Orbitz and surprised me with the stay there. He even tricked me and tried to turn into the Motel 6. It was so fun and relaxing to stay the night practically on the beach, hearing the waves crash as we fell asleep. The waves were huge the following morning when we checked out and headed north!
We got to B’s Aunt and Uncles house and it was just T.V watching and we went out to a dinner at a great brewery called the Tide House. Yum. The following morning we headed out to Half Moon Bay and it was AMAZING. One of the most beautiful places I’ve been in my entire life.
The waves were awesome and beautiful and the weather was simply perfect. It was about a mile hike uphill to get to the top of the bluff and overlook the bay and it was worth it to say the least. We went to the Silver Star Grill for lunch and I might say that it was quite possibly the best burger and lunch I’ve had in quite some time.
With that burger, that was my last bit of junky food, and now I’m back on getting it back together. The Holidays are a hard time to try to cut back and not enjoy everything and now I’m ready and more than willing to get back in the swing of the normal routine. What a break from work I’ve had!
This morning I went to the gym and worked out extra in my backyard when I got home with my jump rope and a small weight. I did a few things I saw on Pintrest for workouts so that was one step in the right direction. Tomorrow is a three mile run and a gym workout and then Sunday is another 10 miler in preparation for this race in a few short weeks aka 1 week.
I’m looking forward to it, and once I get through that, it’s onto full marathon drastic mileage increase!
