So I was so lucky to receive a Sony “W”, which is their newest technology in the walkman aspect of things. Remember those? Well now they are so advanced that they take away the cords and put everything in a tiny chip in your ear. It’s so simple to use and I use it when running and working out at the gym. I love it at the gym because cords don’t get caught on weights and nothing has to be strapped onto my arm or anything. It’s practically weightless that I forget it’s there. I also make sure to keep the volume relitivly low when I’m running outside for safety reasons.
I seriously never realized how annoying cords were until I went cordless! One of the most surprising things was the fact that it holds so much music and that it stays put. I have worn it quite a few times in the rain, including the Monsoonal LA Marathon this year and it stays in, and keeps playing the jams. I was worried it might short circuit, but since it’s relatively waterproof (I don’t know about swimming) it was totally fine! I never realized how much I pull my own ear buds out until I didn’t even have that option without cords. I am a skeptic when it comes to these things, but the wires curve well over your ears and they have no problem staying in. The headsets also come with three different sized interchangeable ‘earbuds’ that can fit different sized ear canals.
Another great thing about them is the fact that they are pretty easy to use. I have never had a problem updating music on my Mac, which I was most worried about since it wasn’t an apple product. I just plug it in and it is simple to drop music onto the player folder. You can see how much space you have left and all the songs on the player as well. There is a small light that lets you know when it’s fully charged and it’s easy to plug into any computer to charge. The only thing I wish it has was a wall charger since I’m not always around a computer. It took me a while to learn was how to turn it off. The first few times I used it, I had to let it play until it died because I’m an idiot and couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. All you have to do is put the little magnetic pieces together like shown above and it will turn off.
So once I figured that out it was really easy to use and I could keep it charged much longer. I do like the wide variety of how loud and soft the music goes and I feel like it gets pretty loud which is awesome for the gym. I also like how I can listen to just one ear if I’m running in a busy location and I know it also has a “zappin” feature, which changes the song about every 15 seconds so you just get little snippets of each song, but I don’t really like that feature because I like listening to whole songs, but I could see it as being entertaining if you only wanted a few songs.
The thing that really is awesome about the Sony W is the fact that it’s only $59.95. To me, that is a more reasonable price for this product. I really think that it’s a cool product and I’m happy to say that I have shed my iPod for the W! I just love the convenience, and the simplicity of it and how it doesn’t have cords and how portable it is. I also like the price because if it did break, I wouldn’t be heartbroken over $59 bucks. It’s also waterproof and I use it all the time now. I don’t even use my iPod for working out, I leave it docked in the bathroom for morning getting ready jams! If you would have told me that I love this little guy as much as I do, I wouldn’t have believed it but I am seriously glad I checked this out and if you are in the market for something new, I would totally put it on your list! You can find out more here!
BUT you could also WIN one of two right here! You can enter just by leaving a comment with your favorite song. If you tweet the contest, you can get another entry, but only if you include “@chicrunner” and the web address to this giveaway. Then I can count that entry. So you have two ways to enter! Comment and tweeting! I’ll pick the winner next Monday.
Big thanks to Sony to sending me two more to giveaway and my own W to review, because without it I would still be stuck in my cords!
Good luck!
xoxo
