Lately we are gearing up for our last two events of the year. The Dana Point Turkey Trot and the LA County Half Marathon in Pomona.
I’m excited for both and hope to see some of you out there! :)
As for Dana Point, we are getting ready for race day and mapping out last minute plans. It’s a great family race and we love working with them.
For LA County, it’s the 2nd year and we have some awesome things going on with that race. We’ve been working hard to make the race Holiday themed without being too overboard and cheesy. I think we’ve come up with the perfect mix! First of all, I LOVE the medals! Seems like everyone else does too. 5k, 13.1 Bike Tour and Half Marathon all are going to get snowflakes. I love the unique design and the ribbons for each of them. They are modeled by our lovely mascot in our office, Pierre the Penguin!

They look so great and the ribbons are so different. I know so many people run for the medals and it’s fun to see their reaction to them. I have never seen a snowflake medal before and I love the holiday theme. :) Finally the medal that everyone loves! The Free Kids Fun Run medal. Le sigh, I do love it too, and it’s pretty adorable.
I know, I know, don’t you all want to be kids right now? With Penguins and Holidays right around the corner and taking over my desk and this run, it makes every thing festive and fun. I rode the course a while back with everyone from work and it is really different from Long Beach! There are some hills throughout it, but it is one of the most beautiful routes I’ve been on that isn’t on a trail! I am really excited about the race and can’t wait for December 11th and 12th! After that it’s a little less crazy for some parts as we start planning our next year. It’s crazy that I’ve almost been here for a year already!
We also got great shirts for the Half Participants which I think came out awesome. We tried to do something different with the color and took into account that it was for the Holidays and our shirts are red! I love how the snowflake is on the front and the logo is on the back. I am really proud of our shirts for both Long Beach and LA County and think they will look awesome long after the event, which is what shirts should do! I love wearing past event shirts when I’m out running and working out and I’m in love with this one too!
This is the back of the t-shirt. There is a snowflake on the front of the shirt as well. The side panels of the shirt are gray, which I really like the contrast and think that these really are different shirts than normal race shirts that are white, or blue, which EVERYONE had blue this year. :/
This weekend I was out in Riverside at the Mission Inn Expo and it was actually a pretty good expo work wise. I also have been a workout fiend this past week!
I went to the gym on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I even ran on Sunday as well! I ran 4.5 miles on Sunday and it was 77 degrees and so nice out! I am feeling much healthier and stronger as well, which is good. I just upped all my weights that I’m doing at the gym too and today is a rest day and I feel such a good sore! I haven’t felt like that in a long time. I have two runs on my plate this week and finally will get in a long run this weekend. I’m hoping to hit around 10 miles. I must up my base in order to get prepared for a few spring marathons in 2011.
I also got to see Martiza last week and we had the best time catching up! We got a delicious dinner, toured on 2nd street and then went back home and ate some cupcakes. Win! I’m so glad she has moved down here and can’t wait to hang out more. :)
I’m glad to be back in the groove and feeling better about working out and getting back on the healthy train! I’m looking for a 5k coming up and thinking about my upcoming races and it’s making me excited. I was really sad that I couldn’t run the Malibu Marathon this weekend, but alas, it’s okay because I am not in racing mode and mindset yet. Getting there though, soon!!!!
