So one of my favorite companies, those who make the iFitness belt, which I reviewed here, sent me a new and improved belt with some cool aspects like gu holders and a nice big pouch and a number holder as well. Since I don’t eat gu’s I gave the belt to my gu-guzzling friend Aron who reviewed the belt today. I really value her opinion and know she would tell me the truth about the belt. I wanted to try it out but since I don’t eat gus or ever carry them, I thought it would be better to give it to someone who was consistent in gu taking. So with that being said, check out her blog for a review of the latest addition to the iFitness belt family.
Last night I was cleaning out some things and went through my purse because it was getting a little heavy. You know you’re a runner when…
That’s right. I found a slew of running goods in my purse.
First we have sport beans, which are a delicious fuel that I use when running. Then we have shampoo by Paul Mitchell? I was even surprised at that one, and I have no idea where it came from. Then I have a tasty Oh Yeah! grab size bar, which are my new favorite things and I will have a review of those coming up soon, because I can’t live without them. Then two different kinds of Nuun, my favorite hydration.
The yellow and black tube is my all-time favorite chapstick with SPF in it. I swear by it. It’s by Hawaiian Island Creations which sounds a little random, but I can’t get rid of this stuff and I used to swear by Burt’s Bees. Then we have Claude the Garmin and some sport wrap that I sometimes use as a headband which I learned how to do during my soccer days. Speaking of the purse too, I got it as a gift. :)
I had no idea that I had so much running related stuff in my purse! I was surprised I didn’t have some socks or something else random in there. This morning I went for a great4 miler and it will be my last run before the 5k tomorrow morning in Irvine. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow morning but I hope to come in right around 22-23:45 minutes. Should be fun, pending rain! Eeek!
This is my last down week before my big 20 miler next weekend that I need to ramp myself up to run. I have been feeling good without any soreness or injuries so hopefully a solid week, and a good 20 miler will put my LA Marathon anxiety at ease. I wrote up an article about scheduling fall races and some great races around the Southern California area, so check it out if you are interested!
So off to the weekend, running and still not eating meat! (which I sadly miss, but I had bomb crab nachos last night)
xoxo

I’m the total opposite. When I want to go running, it’s always the case that I can’t find my Nike+ sensor to put into my shoelaces. I swear, I misplace that more often than anything I own. Sometimes I forget to take it OUT of my shoelaces after a run. And then I think “why didn’t I check my shoes?”. DUH, that’s where I left it.

HAHAHA! “I was surprised I didn’t have some socks or something else random in there.” <—This is funny because when we were in Huntington Beach after Surf City, my friend pulled out a random pair of running socks from her purse while we were in a bar. The next day? I found a pair of socks in mine. (They were a lifesaver when we got stuck an extra day in CA due to snow in Chicago and I was out of clean socks!)
Good luck on your 5k! :)

Have fun in the 5K! I’m sure you’ll totally rock it! Plus I promise to pray for a rain free-day. Just do me a favour and do the same for Vancouver! lol
By TorontoGirloutWest on 02.26.10 8:47 am
Haha I carry around blister block everywhere I go. I’ve also been known to whip out a sock or two from time to time!
By Ange on 02.26.10 8:49 am

By Vic on 02.26.10 8:59 am
Ahahaha, love the running “stash” in your purse! Classic!
By Marlene on 02.26.10 9:40 am
You might have gotten the shampoo at a race expo. I’ve tossed mine.
By ilovesteaks on 02.26.10 9:49 am
1st of all your purse is super cute, 2nd of all it looks a lot like the inside of my purse!
By Jocelyn on 02.26.10 9:54 am
I just checked my purse. I’ve got Nuun in there, along with a running watch, more ponytail holders than I’ll ever need, two larabars, an ONE sock. Just one.
Have a great 5K!

I wonder how many runner related things I have in my purse??
By J on 02.26.10 10:53 am
Paul Mitchell makes condoms now?
By Billy Burger on 02.26.10 11:25 am
That’s hilarious and so apropos. I was “swiching” bags this morning and found an Espresso Clif Shot in it! Then I suddenly realized that most of my bags have a gel of some sort in them. I love us.

Danica – Best of luck with your 5K this weekend – that is such a fun distance. I don’t carry a purse unless Super-wife makes me, but my backpack briefcase is a veritable runner’s paradise.
I’m pretty sure I could live for close to 5 days on a deserted island just on my fuel sources I have with me at all times.
Hoping for great weather for you! Best from Austin, Joe
By joerunfordom on 02.26.10 12:12 pm
I found two Gu’s in my purse the other day–LOL!
Good luck at the 5k tomorrow—you got it in the bag chica. I’ll wish no rain for you.
Oooooooh 20 miler coming up…can’t say that I miss going those distances.
By Alisa on 02.26.10 12:24 pm
I always have a stash of bars and sometimes gus/gels in my purse too – you can never be too prepared! :)

Weird, I also found a couple of packets of those Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner things in a drawer at my work…I wonder why I put them there. I think they may have been from the LB Marathon last fall. I also love that lip balm in the yellow tube. They make a sunscreen that I also love because it has a high SPF and does not run in my eyes, which is huge for me since I sweat like a little piggy on long runs. I did my 20 miler today and am doing the happy dance. Taper here I come! Good luck tomorrow on your 5K. I live in Irvine and didn’t even know there was a 5K goin’ on. Hope it isn’t near where I live blocking up all the roadways to breakfast…hahaha!
By Madison on 02.26.10 12:57 pm
How did you get individual wrapped Nuun?!?!? OMG! I always have to seran wrap one and keep it in my bra!
Good luck this weekend! Can’t wait to see a new PR! :)

Haha! You never know what you’ll find in there!
Good luck at your 5K! You’ll kick its ass, I’m sure! :)

HIC is really big in Hawaii. I saw them at the SFM expo selling sunblock and thought that was sort of strange.
By RoadBunner on 02.26.10 7:01 pm
I love it! It’s weird how much crap accumulates in a purse over a short period of time! I hope things are going well with the new job!
By Kristen on 02.26.10 7:03 pm
Your purse is like the front seat of my car – I keep accumulating running stuff in there – GUs, socks, extra shoes, bodyglide, etc.
By Joy on 02.27.10 12:34 am
Crab nachos?! Do share I’m intrigued. Nothing screams randomness like emptying a big purse. At one point recently, I had 8 highlighters. I don’t even really use highlighters!
By Sarah on 02.27.10 10:17 am
haha, nice loot! and good luck in your 5K — hope the rain stays away for you!!
By runner26 on 02.27.10 10:36 am
I like that the bulkiest item in your purse is Claude! ‘Nuff said! Have a great race and a better weekend, D.!

It’s like a mom purse… but not. :o)
By X-country2 on 02.28.10 11:29 am
I love it! I think Runner’s world should do a piece like that. I mean come on, all those mags do that featurette about what’s in celebs purses. What are in runner’s purses :) BTW- am I a bad wannabe marathoner (in 9 weeks eek) if I don’t know what nuun is? Have you reviewed it on here before? Must have been B.C. (my life before chic runner, haha)
By Jacklyn on 02.28.10 5:56 pm
my purse gets so heavy and I find randomness in there, too. too funny!
By Heather on 03.01.10 6:47 am
Love the purse randomness! The shampoo is pretty random.
I no longer find rank pieces of fruit in mine (I started doing a daily foodcheck to counteract my absent-minded piglet purse tendencies.) I do, however, find things like random bags of beans and a wraparound knee brace (for icing the knee), as well as eight million hairbands and small ziploc bags (to protect the ipod in case it rains).
By Laura Georgina on 03.01.10 11:06 am
What about MY opinion? Actually it’s probably because I take 15 years to review a product. :)
I love all your purse crap! My purses get soooo heavy…why do I need 15 lip glosses? :-/
By Marathon Maritza on 03.02.10 10:03 am
That shampoo is from Malibu I think…they gave us samples…that’s all I got. lol
By Tara on 03.02.10 3:32 pm
Way better than a mom purse! A runners purse! Love it :)
